This comprehensive program is a holistic approach to helping improve socialization, academic performance and decision-making. The Expulsion Prevention is designed for youth between the ages of 12-18 that are at risk of being expelled from school.This program will focus on the development of 6 core areas: Positive Self Concept, Education, Mental Health, Stress Management, Character Building and Critical Thinking Skills.
The Expulsion Program has 6 goals:
- Improve Self-Concept
- Develop Positive Coping Skills
- Challenge Negative Thought Patterns and Deviant Behaviors
- Improve Self-Care and Stress Management
- Develop Conflict Resolution Skills
- Remedy the Behavior Leading to Expulsion
Each participant will be assessed to determine if they are appropriate for the program. Each participant will participate in weekly Psycho-Educational Groups facilitated by Dr. Terrance Wells and licensed therapists. Each group will begin with a 20-minute lecture of topic content and will be followed by an interactive psycho-educational group. Each participant must attend 11 groups sessions, and complete an apology letter to those that were affected by their offense. This is an 11-week program that will be awarded with a certificate of completion and optional ceremony.
